The Latest

As of late, Gateway has been rehearsing and writing. Our mixer/interface is still out of commission, so we've been working on some great new tracks and playing some great covers. We are certain we will have ine long, epic instrumental track on the album, which is currently being authored, and otherwise we're still working.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween to all you little fans.

Anyway We all have a couple of blooming ideas in our minds for music, but right now we are focusing on recording these few songs (Maybe a 2-sided single...) and mastering. Plus we still need to replace our blown mixer. So for now we're just blooming. Hopefully soon we'll get this thing replaced.

Changed Blog Layout

I noticed that all those SoundCloud files were slowing down the page, so I moved them to a new page which can be found right under the heading of the blog, along with our "About Us".

I also added a translate feature, for those who accidentally stumble on this in a foreign country.

Wouldn't It Be Funny?

...if we actually rehearsed in the last 2 months?

School caught up with us. It happens. All we can do is rehearse in our spare time.

And on that matter...

Our recording equipment seems to have blown out. So we can't quite record for a while now, which sucks because we now have 2 awesome songs that we can't even share with anyone (if anyone reads this).

So, our album no longer has a release date, although before it didn't really either, it was just a 6 month span. But now it really doesn't have a date. We may release a single, I mean we have ONE song that's all the way done. But as of now that's unconfirmed. An album right now is just out of the question.

Sorry...

Busy as Ever

Marching band camp just ended this week, making a little more time for rehearsing and recording. Don't expect an album at any specific date, its just gonna appear one day at this rate. Otherwise same old stuff is going on

Making More and More Progress

This is becoming the same old news by now. We've written more songs. We're recording them. Album will be out soon.

Anyone know where to find a free professional recording studio? that would pretty much make our lives at this point.

Recording, Writing, Working

Happy 4th of July (Although most people won't see this until the 5th), I just felt the blog deserved an update on Gateway's album progress and current doings. We have 8 or 9 songs written, and are shooting to write another 2-3 in time for release. About 2-3 of our existing songs are complete, with the rest to be finished (hopefully) near the end of the summer. That's all I've got

Recording Will Start Soon...

Testing will be over by the end of the month, so we can FINALLY start recording again. I know that I, personally, have a couple of songs (partially) written that I've been waiting to record, so this album may be out sooner than we think.

POPS Concert is a Bust

Gateway will not be performing in the POPS concert at the high school this year, however we will probably be playing it next year.

Finally Implementing Metal

Well, it's official. We stepped into the metal area with our heaviest song, Borderlines.

Also, the album is set to release during the Summer or Fall of 2012. (Ironically close to Green Day's album...)

Been a While, But We're Back

We haven't been posting in a while, it's been very busy. We are continuing our work on our debut album to be released in the fall/summer of 2012. We have our original 4 songs complete (Let You Go, Lies, His Majesty, Dead End) however "His Majesty" has been completely revamped and "Lies" will most likely be omitted. We also have 3 unfinished songs (Outcast, Borderlines, Third Wheel) and are continuing work on those.

1000 Views!

Look at that, the blog hit 1000 views recently.

Nice. Thanks to our few fans who keep increasing the numbers for us.

EDIT: About the same time, His Majesty hits 100 plays. 2 Milestones in 1 month is fine by me.

Starting New Songs, Abandoning Old Songs

We've went ahead to abandon a couple songs, "Set in Stone" and "Lies". However, we're just starting on 2 new songs called "Third Wheel" and "Borderlines", both are fantastic and will be some of our best work yet.

Writing, Recording, Musical

We've been rather busy lately, leaving little time for rehearsing and recording. Firstoff, I've written a new song, titled "Third Wheel", which is definitely going to be on the album, most likely replacing "Broken", which was never finished and may end up on one of our solo albums. Also, "Outcast" is near completion, with only vocals left. "Set in Stone" may be shelved for now, but it will be used again at some point. Either way, we have been very busy due to4 working on the school musical (West Side Story), where Bryan. B is on stagecrew and Mike and myself are in pit, so things'll be slow for the next month or so. However, expect us to get some recording done because we have off for winter break this coming week.

The Next Radiochain?

For anyone who remembers our old side project, Radiochain, I hope you forget very soon. However, Me and Bryan F. are debating creating our own side project as a duo, each of us playing multiple instruments. One name we have for it is Tetra, but that's not confirmed.

Don't forget Bryan F. and I have our own solo albums out sometime this year, mine under the name Riots on the Tower. (I'm hoping to accumulate more members for this in the future.)

Almost Done With Newest Songs

Our song "Set in Stone" only needs a bass part and our song "Outcast" only needs vocal parts and a 2nd rhythm guitar part. We still need to write "Razorblades" (title will most likely change) and "Broken". "Let You Go" was revamped for the album as well as "Lies", which will be. "His Majesty" was also entirely re-recorded. When we have a release date for the album, It should have a total of 10 songs (subject to change) and have a title track.

Solo Album, Recording Gateway Debut

You could say I've begun my solo album, as I recorded one track with Bryan B. the other day. The lyrics will need to be redone though, as I wrote the song for an English project (I'm in highschool). Also, Gateway rehearsed yesterday. We worked out "Outcast" and began recording it, but have only the rhythm guitar parts done, and then jammed to some classics like "Smoke on the Water" and "My Generation" just for fun. We may end up pushing back the independent release of our debut album, as we only have "Let You Go", part of "Outcast", "Dead End", and most of a reworked version of "His Majesty" completed, out of a target 10-12 tracks. However, we have written almost enough songs, some by me ("Outcast", "Let You Go", "His Majesty", "Broken") and a few by Bryan B. ("Dead End", "Lies", "Borderlines", and a new one "Set in Stone"), as well as one collaboration ("A Moment To Forget").

Already Working on My Solo Album

I've got the basis for 2 songs for my solo album already DONE. I'll post some video demos tomorrow.

One is a combo of prog metal and hard rock while the other doesn't have enough done to really determine what genre it is. No titles yet.

And I'll be playing under the name Riots on the Tower.

EDIT: Well, a little later than expected, but here is one demo from my upcoming solo album. No name yet. It's only a guitar. Also, don't expect it to be "in time", I did this one kind of quick. It's really just to get a point across.
Oh, and I have decided on changing my overall genre to the hard rock styles seen in bands like Chevelle.

New Year, New Music, New Ideas

Hello.

I haven't posted in quite a while, so I felt the need to greet you.

Anyway,

As we already said, we have several new tracks to be released such as "A Moment to Forget", "Broken", "Borderlines", "Outcast", etc. Also we have gigs. ESM Pops concert, Long Island Idol, and possibly opening for Mike's friend. If you're in the area, stop by.

The blog is also maintaining a monthly poll, like we used to. Maybe this time it will work.

My, as well as Bryan F.'s, solo albums will be released this year, him doing mainly blues, rock, jazz, alternative, etc. and myself, under an undecided name, doing stoner rock, prog metal, and experimental. It's amazing how such different styles can just come together like that.

Oh, and January celebrates Gateway's 1st birthday!! We'll have some CHAWCOLATE later to celebrate.
